About the Product

Stylish, Affordable Hard-Shell Luggage for the Frequent Traveller

As air travel costs rise and airline fees multiply, savvy travellers are keen to save where possible. Luggage is a prime example. Carry-on bags remain free on most major carriers, enabling faster deplaning compared to waiting for checked luggage. Hard-shell suitcases designed for overhead compartments protect their contents well and move seamlessly from cabin to terminal.

The Béis Carry-On Roller is an attractive carry-on that boasts numerous features making it an excellent choice for frequent travellers. Priced moderately despite its celebrity origins, its quality and performance recommend it as an everyday go-to suitcase.

Testing the Béis Carry-On Roller

Our testing team evaluated the Béis Carry-On Roller on its performance, ease of packing, overall capacity, and mobility both in hand and on wheels.

What is the Béis Carry-On Roller?

The Béis Carry-On Roller is a hard-sided suitcase designed to fit in the overhead compartments of most commercial airplanes. It features a body made from 100% virgin (non-recycled) polycarbonate, with a PVC and polyester liner and interior vegan leather trim. With dimensions of 15.7 inches wide, 22.8 inches tall, and 9.8 inches deep, it offers a capacity ranging from 49 to 61 litres, equipped with two handles and four 360-degree spinner wheels for easy movement.

Béis Carry-On Roller Price and Where to Buy

The Béis Carry-On Roller retails for around $218, with occasional discounts bringing it below $200. It is available directly from Béis and select retailers.

How to Use the Béis Carry-On Roller

The Béis Carry-On Roller opens in a butterfly format, featuring a zippered compartment on one side and an open compartment on the other. Users can pack clothes and belongings into either side. The zippered compartment’s U-flap serves as a compression flap for items stored within. This U-flap includes a large detachable mesh pocket and two smaller pockets (one zippered and one clear PVC) for small items or travel-size liquids. The open compartment is equipped with four-point compression straps. The suitcase features two zippers that can be secured with its TSA-compliant combination lock.

The Béis Carry-On can be lifted using either the top or side handle, which also features a weight indicator. Its design allows it to roll effortlessly in any direction on its four spinner wheels, and it can be easily steered with its cushioned telescoping handle. An external retractable strap is also included for securing personal items like a backpack or purse.

Béis Carry-On Roller Benefits

Interior Organisation

We found the interior organisation of the Béis Carry-On Roller to be particularly useful during testing. The pockets in the zippered U-flap kept small items and soft articles neatly separated and organised. The detachable mesh pocket was especially handy for organising personal items such as socks and stockings. The zippered compartment can hold a good amount of clothing, freeing up the open compartment for bulkier items like shoes and jackets.

Smooth Wheels and Comfortable Handles

The 360-degree wheels proved to be smooth and mobile during our tests, gliding effortlessly without jamming. The cushioned telescoping handle was exceptionally comfortable, surpassing many other handles we used.

Expandability

The Béis Carry-On Roller can expand from 49 to 61 litres, which was particularly beneficial during our testing, especially for the return leg of a trip when soiled garments or souvenirs tend to take up more space.

Style

With graduated horizontal ribbing, the Béis Carry-On Roller boasts a contemporary appearance. Its textured polycarbonate exterior is available in nine colours, ranging from classic black, beige, and navy to trendy seasonal shades like berry, citron, maple, and creamsicle.

Price

While it costs slightly more than some other hard-sided carry-on suitcases from well-known brands, the Béis Carry-On Roller is priced lower than many similarly featured options.

Béis Carry-On Roller Drawbacks

Weight Indicator

The side handle features a simple weight indicator that turns red if the carry-on exceeds 50 pounds. We found this feature somewhat questionable during testing; it’s rare to pack a carry-on that heavy, and most are limited by size rather than weight. The feature seems more relevant if the suitcase is to be checked.

Scuffs

As with most hard-shell luggage, the Béis Carry-On can be prone to scuffing, especially if checked. While the polycarbonate exterior held up reasonably during travel, we did notice significant scuffs after just two flights.

Waterproofing

While the polycarbonate shell is waterproof, the zipper area and expanding gusset are not. However, many Béis bags come with a water-resistant interior lining to help protect contents.

should You Get the Béis Carry-On Roller?

The Béis Carry-On Roller is a visually appealing suitcase that can accommodate a week’s worth of clothing within its sturdy shell. Its thoughtful organisational features and convenient design make it user-friendly and justifies its moderately high price. Frequent travellers seeking a reliable suitcase will likely be very satisfied with the Béis Carry-On Roller.
