A passport is one of the most vital documents you can have. In addition to establishing identity, age, nationality and citizenship, they allow you not only to cross international borders but also serve as authoritative identity papers in almost every country in the world. Most issued within the last decade come with chips containing the biometric data of the holder. Losing a passport or getting one stolen, especially while in a foreign country, is a true travel nightmare.
But storing your passport in a quality passport wallet or sleeve can help put your mind at ease. The best passport wallets protect your passport from moisture, fading and electronic surveillance. Some can even track their location in the event of loss or theft.
After looking at dozens of options, we’ve rounded up a selection of excellent passport wallets to help keep your passport safe and protected on your next trip. Our top choice is the Satechi Vegan Leather FindAll Passport Holder, which offers some unique features to ensure your passport stays safe and can even help you find it if it gets lost.
Editors’ picks for 2025
Satechi Vegan Leather FindAll Passport Holder
Editors’ Favorite
Dimensions: 5.6” L x 4.27” W x 0.66” H | Material: Vegan leather | RFID Blocking: Yes | Organization: 4 card slots, boarding pass slot, passport pocket
The Satechi Vegan Leather FindAll Passport Holder earns our top spot among the best passport wallets with its wealth of features, most notably, the ability to locate it using Apple’s Find My network. It’s a built-in defense against theft and loss that also looks good and offers a practical amount of storage.
Satechi is known to tech lovers for its array of docks and adapters, but it also makes tech accessories, and the FindAll Passport Cover is one of its bestsellers. This passport wallet fits most standard-sized passports and is made of sturdy vegan leather. It has four slots for credit cards, transport passes or business cards and a sleeve slot for longer documents like printed boarding passes, in addition to the RFID-blocking passport sleeve itself.
The killer feature, of course, is the built-in tracker. Instead of tucking an Apple AirTag into a pocket, the Find My functionality is built into the passport wallet itself, so there’s no added expense or extra bulk.
Also, unlike an AirTag, the FindAll Passport Cover is powered by a built-in battery and recharges wirelessly on any Qi-compatible charger. Apple’s Find My network works wherever an Apple device is nearby, so the Satechi FindAll will be as easy to locate as any other Find My-compatible device.

Great Value

This travel wallet is made of polyurethane faux leather and is available in 40 colors ranging from bright pastels to deep hues. It has RFID-blocking capabilities to keep your biometric passport’s chip safe from prying scanners. In addition to four credit card-sized slots, it has a slot for boarding passes and a flap for two clear windows, which you can use for family photos or drivers’ licenses.
The Melsbrinna passport holder also includes two tiny pockets that can hold standard-sized SIM cards or smaller. If you’re traveling to a region where eSIM is unavailable, getting a local SIM card is still one of the best ways to minimize your travel expenses, and the slots in the Melsbrinna passport holder keep them safe.
Valante Premium Family Travel Document Organizer
Best for families
Dimensions: 10.2” L x 6.1” W x 1.2” H | Material: Polyester | RFID Blocking: Yes | Organization: 6 passport pockets, 2 boarding pass slots, 2 large zip pockets, zip coin pocket, card slots, SIM slots
The Valante Premium Family Travel Document Organizer is large enough to keep an entire family or travel group’s most important documents neatly stashed in a single protective holder. In short, it’s an organizing godsend — especially when wrangling kids on an overseas trip.
The Valante organizer has slots for as many as six individual standard-sized passports as well as four cards of credit card or ID size. It also has two interior zippered pockets, each about the size of a #10 envelope, making it great for money, checks, passes, receipts or other papers. There’s another zippered pocket on the back that could hold a smartphone if needed, and full-length slots on the front for boarding passes or customs forms.
The Valante is made of several layers of fabric and polyester that’s waterproof and RFID-blocking. It has slots for two SIM cards and an SD card, loops for two pens, and an interior keychain hook. It comes with a wrist strap and a crossbody strap for additional physical security.
Leatherology Deluxe Passport Cover
Best Color Options
Dimensions: 5.5” L x 4.2” W x 0.5” T | Material: Leather | RFID Blocking: No | Organization: 4 card slots, boarding pass slot, passport pocket
Alternatives to animal leather keep growing in quality, but for some there’s just no substitute for the smell, feel and wear of the real thing. Leatherology specializes in high-quality natural leather in beautiful, elegant colors and shades. The Leatherology Deluxe Passport Cover is an excellent example of its simple, premium-feeling products.
It fits standard-sized passports, wrapping them in full-grain genuine leather that wears over time into a smooth and glossy finish. The leather shows up inside as well as outside, including the slanted document sleeve and four card slots.
We like the cognac color option, a deep, rich tan that goes with almost anything, but other options include black, brown, burgundy, deep blue and gray. There are two RFID-blocking color options, but it’s not standard.
Bellroy Travel Wallet
Best Slim-Style Wallet
Dimensions: 6” L x 0.5” T x 3.8” W | Material: Leather | RFID Blocking: Yes | Organization: 4 card slots, passport pocket, cash pocket, hidden pocket
The Bellroy Travel Wallet, like a lot of Bellroy products, has an unusual twist to its design. It holds a standard-sized passport horizontally and folds horizontally like an oversized mens’ wallet. Made of genuine leather, it’s packed with compartments and extras.
The Bellroy wallet has four card slots for credit cards or ID cards as well as the all-important passport pocket. In addition, it has a wallet-style cash pocket for bills, receipts and other small papers, plus more slots for other cards. It also has a hidden pocket, secured by a flap, for higher-value currency or anything you want tucked out of sight, plus a SIM holder and place for a SIM tray ejector. It even comes with a tiny pen, ideal for filling out customs forms on the plane.
For extra security, the Bellroy Travel Wallet is RFID-blocking. Due to its design, however, there are some passports that may be slightly too big for its pocket, so be sure to check all dimensions before purchasing.
How we analyzed
We picked these products based on a variety of factors, including features and reliability as well as customer reviews and brand reputation. We wanted to offer a selection of different types of passport holders to meet the expectations and needs of different consumers, such as those looking for a low-cost option, a premium option, or a larger or smaller option. We consulted travel websites and official web pages to learn about passport size and construction and the best practices for keeping passports safe and secure.
Key features to consider
Capacity and organization
Passport wallets usually do more than just hold a passport, though. Often they have:
- A slot or pocket for a printed boarding pass. Printed boarding passes may seem passé if you like to use your phone or smartwatch for them, but they’re still printed by airline customer service and can be more reliable, especially during international travel.
- Card slots. These are sized to hold credit cards, debit cards, business cards or other cards of similar size and shape.
- A compartment for cash and bills. Passport wallets that take their wallet identity seriously offer slots, pockets or pouches for cash, bills, checks or anything else that can fold and fit.
- SIM slots. Even with the rise of eSIM, there are plenty of places in the world where a physical SIM is useful or even required. If you have a smartphone with a SIM slot, you can keep extra travel SIMs in the tiny slots of good travel wallets and passport wallets.
- Other compartments. You can find coin purses, zippered pockets, window pockets for IDs or photos, and pen loops for writing implements on some well-equipped passport wallets.
Our top picks: Capacity and organization
- Satechi Vegan Leather FindAll Passport Holder: Has all the basics, including four card slots and an open slot for boarding passes.
- Melsbrinna RFID Passport Holder: Comes with four card slots, two SIM slots, a double-sided window sleeve and a larger slot for boarding passes.
- Valante Premium Family Travel Document Organizer: The top pick among our selection for organization, it holds up to six passports, four credit cards, two large zippered pockets for cash, a coin purse, external slots for boarding passes and even an exterior zippered pocket that could fit a smartphone.
- Leatherology Deluxe Passport Cover: Offers basic capacity with four credit card slots and a large open slot for a boarding pass as well as the passport.
- Bellroy Travel Wallet: Packs more organization than you’d expect in a smaller item, with space for up to 10 cards, a cash pocket, a hidden cash pocket and SIM storage. But it’s a tight fit for some passports that are bigger and thicker than the standard size.
Security features
RFID blocking
Most countries in the 21st century issue biometric passports. These passports have embedded RFID (radio frequency identification) chips that store biometric data, such as face ID, fingerprint recognition and iris recognition, to be read by systems used by customs and border officers at a given port of entry.
The information on the chips in biometric passports can conceivably be read by unauthorized third parties with the right equipment, so many passport wallets integrate materials to block the radio frequencies used to carry that data. Since many credit and debit cards and some ID cards also have RFID chips, this shielding can protect those chips, too.
Wrist or cross-body strap
Electronic security is one thing, but physical security is always important, especially when it comes to your passport. Some passport wallets come with wrist straps, lanyard attachments or cross-body straps to connect the wallet to your physical person.
Location tracking
Apple AirTags, Tile trackers and other location-tracking gadgets are a great addition to any passport wallet. You can slip an AirTag, Tile or other tracker into one of the slots of a passport holder, especially if you pick one the size and shape of a credit card. Some passport wallets go one step further and have tracking technology built in. For more, check out our guide to luggage trackers.
Closures
Closures, like button straps, Velcro straps and so on, add another layer of security to a passport wallet. But keep in mind they could get in the way if you, or a harried customs agent, need to get to your documents in a hurry. Many customs and border agents remove passports from sleeves or wallets to read their biometric chips and study the biodata and visa pages, so if you have a clasp or closure, open it before handing it over at customs and immigration.
Our top picks: Security features
- Satechi Vegan Leather FindAll Passport Holder: The best at tracking with its built-in Find My circuitry, and it’s RFID-blocking.
- Melsbrinna RFID Passport Holder: This one is RFID-blocking and comes with a button snap closure.
- Valante Premium Family Travel Document Organizer: This offers RFID-blocking layers in its fabric build and comes with a keychain hook, wrist strap and cross-body strap.
- Leatherology Deluxe Passport Cover: This cover lacks any security features except for RFID blocking on only two of the color options (black onyx and brown).
- Bellroy Travel Wallet: This option is RFID-blocking and includes a hidden covered pocket for large bills.
Material and colors
Material
Passport wallets and holders can be found in a variety of flexible, protective materials, but the most popular are genuine leather, faux leather and fabric.
- Leather is one of the most popular and sought-after materials, with a beautiful feel, smell and ability to age well — but aside from its obvious animal source, it can be expensive and isn’t waterproof.
- Faux and vegan leather is made out of non-animal materials, which can range from plant-based sources to synthetics made from petroleum. A popular fake leather is PU leather made of polyurethane. These materials are waterproof and can come in bright colors, but they are not as durable as real leather and sometimes feel cheap.
- Fabric is woven from fibers, including natural ones like cotton or canvas and synthetics like nylon and polyester. Some fabrics used in passport wallets can be treated to add water resistance.
Colors
As with luggage, bright or striking colors and patterns help your passport holder stand out, which can be an asset when searching for it at customs or a hotel. Colors depend a lot on the material used. Faux leather and fabric tend to come in brighter colors and patterns than genuine leather.
Personalization is a great way to make your passport wallet your own. Some passport wallets can be personalized with embossed or stitched initials. Or you can add your own personalization with a sticker or colorful label.
