Our Experience with the Helix Twilight Luxe Mattress

Finding a suitable mattress is crucial, especially for side sleepers who often face discomfort. The Helix Twilight Luxe was designed specifically for this purpose, and we were eager to see if it lived up to its reputation.

Helix was notably the most awarded mattress brand of 2021, so we anticipated a quality experience. Here’s what we discovered after testing the Helix Twilight Luxe.

Testing the Helix Twilight Luxe

Our tester, who typically sleeps on their back or side, was keen to try a firmer mattress for better back support.

Unboxing the Helix Twilight Luxe is a two-person job since it’s quite heavy. It arrives in a compact box and is wrapped tightly in plastic, which requires careful cutting to allow the mattress to expand.

We were genuinely impressed by how quickly the mattress inflated, reaching its full size within just two hours.

What is the Helix Twilight Luxe?

The Helix Twilight Luxe is a firm mattress designed for side and back sleepers, featuring zoned lumbar support coils and memory foam for alleviating pressure points. It adapts well to the body, providing solid support.

Customers can also choose between two cooling cover options: one made from breathable Tencel to wick moisture away, and another from GlacioTex fabric that helps regulate body temperature. Both options are hypoallergenic and feature premium quilting.

Helix offers a 15-year limited warranty on the Twilight Luxe and a one-year warranty on the pillows, along with a generous 100-night trial, allowing ample time to test the mattress.

How to Use the Helix Twilight Luxe

To set up the Helix Twilight Luxe, carefully slide the rolled mattress out of its box and pull on the plastic tab to unroll it. After placing the mattress on your bed frame, use scissors to remove the remaining plastic. It’s best to allow the mattress at least half an hour to expand before trying it out.

It felt comfortable to sleep on after eight hours, but it seemed to reach its full potential only after a full night’s rest. The included pillows took almost a week to fully inflate.

Helix Twilight Luxe Benefits

At 14 inches tall, the Helix Twilight Luxe is notably taller than the brand’s standard mattresses, which makes getting in and out of bed much easier. The additional height also improves airflow, keeping our tester cooler throughout the night.

The firmness and support provided by the Twilight Luxe impressed our tester. They noted that their joints felt relaxed due to the memory foam’s pressure relief, allowing them to remain comfortably in the same position throughout the night.

Helix Twilight Luxe Drawbacks

While the setup process is simple, the size of the mattress can make it challenging to unroll if you’re on your own. Additionally, make sure you have enough space to accommodate the unrolling process. Some users have reported that the mattress can have a chemical smell upon arrival, which may take time to dissipate.

Though marketed as firm, it may not offer sufficient support for everyone’s preferences, particularly for those unaccustomed to memory foam. Moreover, it does not excel at motion isolation, which might be disruptive for couples.

Should You Get the Helix Twilight Luxe?

The Helix Twilight Luxe is an excellent choice for side sleepers seeking comfort and support. It’s also suitable for those interested in memory foam mattresses but who worry about overheating, thanks to its breathable top layers and innovative support coils.
